Please send your resume and a short letter stating why you would like to be considered for an LIA intership.

Elizabeth Chadha
Furman University Class of 2012

"My internship at Law in Action has been one of the most influential experiences of my academic career. I was afforded the opportunity to work side by side with the Law in Action investigators and be an integral part of the work done to assist the defendants. I would recommend this internship to anyone interested in a legal career."

Lauren Huddleston
Furman University Class of 2011

"I have never heard of an internship that offers more hands-on experiences or utilizes its interns so tangibly effect the community nearly as much as my internship with Law in Action. As a pre-law student, I could not have received more affirmation regarding my choice of a career to pursue working for any organization other than Law in Action. Twice a week, I had the opportunity to watch the legal system function firsthand. I learned Judicial Procedure from contact with both magistrate court and the public defender's office, and I learned how the constitutional rights are or are not guaranteed at a local level by watching indigent defendants' cases take their course. This internship cemented lessons learned in the classroom, broadened my understanding of the legal system, and inspired me to pursue a career helping indigent defendants like the ones helped by Law in Action."

Patrick Wallace
Furman University Student

"Law In Action is hands on experience not only in the legal field but in the area of engaged citizenship. Experience gained in the first week as a Law In Action intern rivals that of the experience garnered from an entire internship elsewhere. As a Law In Action intern, you are an integral part of the process, not just extra labor on the side. I can confidently say that the work I did for Law In Action not only made a positive impact on myself, but made a positive impact on the greater community."
